NIREC PRESS STATEMENT ON WORO, KAIAMA, KWARA STATE KILLINGS

The Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), under the leadership of the Co-chairmen, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, and His Eminence, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has received the news of the massacre in Woro Kwara State with heavy hearts.

These acts of heinous crime and wanton killings against innocent Nigerians have become one too many. For this onslaught to have taken place for hours unabated at a time when the Nigerian Security Forces are said to be dealing with terrorist leaves little to be desired.

NIREC condoles with the families of those who lost their lives and pray for the repose of their souls. We equally wish those injured a speedy recovery. In the same vein, the Council condemns this act in strong terms and calls on the relevant security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime and make them to face the consequences of their inhuman action.

May God grant us peace in Nigeria!
